OUR STORY

Here's the thing:  I'm not going to bullshit you.  I was an awful, heartless little girl when I met Benjamin.  Young, dumb, and dangerous.  Ben was the strong, silent country boy whose heart I broke.  After 10 years of completely walking away from him, we reconnected one night at a local pub.  That night, I was flooded with all of those old feelings of familiarity and comfort:

He still made me smile the way he used to.

He still looked at me like no one else was around.

His sincere interest in how I was doing made it so easy to catch up.  I knew I had never stopped loving him, but this time it felt deeper, because we were different people.

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice."

I believe it is truly a gift to love the same person twice in one lifetime, and to be given a chance to get it right with whom I believe to be my soulmate.  He is my person, and I am his.  In some peculiar way, it feels like this is how it has always been, despite being apart for so many years.

We've been through the motions of the dating phase, being engaged, being married, and finally being parents.  It's a ride, that's for sure!  But, I love our story and who we have become through the process.
