A Dress for Someday
My annual peony shoot has arrived!
Every year, I photograph the peonies that only bloom for a small moment in early summer. They are so resilient and beautiful at the same time. It’s actually part of the reason they are such a popular flower within cemeteries.
I was gifted this white dress from a friend I’ve never met. We have solely been friends on social media. She found it at a Goodwill in Chicago and asked me if Waylin would like it for a photoshoot. Immediately yes! At the same time, another friend I’ve met online surprised me with a vintage parasol sent all the way from Idaho after she saw it on Marketplace and thought I would love it for a photoshoot! Waylin’s pearls came from her late great Grandma Hopper and the chair is a vintage folding chair I thrifted.
I love the way the pure white dress played into the golden browns of the parasol and pearls. It all came together for our annual peony shoot! I feel like I am seeing her in the future…like these are her bridals I took. I told her that and she said, “Ew! No! I’m not getting married! I’m living with you for the rest of my life!” Fine with me, babe!
