Quarantine is Zooming by...

Well, we’ve been in quarantine for 85 days now. We are definitely living different lives than we were back in early March. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even listen to the news or read any updates on Coronavirus because it’s information-overload. I don’t think anyone really knows what to do or how to do it…Information changes almost ever hour some days. Earlier today, a headline managed to catch my eye. It said, “Health Officials say a mid summer spike is happening and they were not prepared for it" whereas another article just below it was mentioning all the false positive cases that were confirmed.

I’m very happy and lucky to have the opportunity to work from home given that I don’t know how much of a threat this all is. I enjoy being able to quarantine so I can see my at-risk family members knowing that I haven’t been put into compromising situations. I know we can never really know when we are at the grocery store or a gas pump, but I’ve been doing my part in staying home as much as possible and following all the social distancing guidelines.

For Waylin, I think quarantine was hard at the beginning because it seemed fun to stay at home with mama. And it was! But then as work picked up, there were times where I couldn’t be available to her and she had a hard time with that. I took frequent breaks to console her and make her feel like she wasn’t alone in our home. For some reason, some of my professors liked to do zoom meetings where I had to actually put on a bra and do my makeup! 😆 We would have to have a talk beforehand that mama is going to be on the “TV” for a little bit and that she has to play quietly with her toys.

This is how most of my Zoom calls went:

There was a lot of sabotage jumps on my back, licking, and yelling “poooooooop” in the first few meetings! I mean, if that isn’t toddlerhood, I don’t know what is! 🤣 I started logging on to Zoom meetings early to practice. I let her have 10 minutes of flirting with the camera before she got bored and left me semi alone for the real meeting.

I’ll never forget these times and luckily all of my professors were very kind and understanding. One even emailed me after a meeting and told me that he can tell I am a good mother. ❤

We have gotten into a really good groove now with working from home! I don’t know how long this will last, but I know we will look back on these times and know that we can make it through anything!
